A missing Winnipeg teen with autism has returned home safely after being found more than 2,000 kilometres away.
Nicholas Read, who went missing last Wednesday, was found safe late Saturday night, his father Rob tweeted.
“Nick has been located and is safe. We’ll give a statement later, but we can’t express enough how the support we have received helped us,” Rob Read tweeted just before 9 p.m. Saturday.
Rob Read dropped his son off for school at West Kildonan Collegiate last Wednesday around 7:30 a.m. The 16-year-old, however, did not attend his classes that day and did not return home on the school bus.
RCMP made a plea for the public’s help on Thursday and, according to Rob Read’s Twitter account, there had been an “unconfirmed sighting” earlier Saturday.
