A 15-year-old girl is facing child pornography charges after she allegedly shared “inappropriate images” online.
The RCMP say they received information Wednesday that the images had been shared on a social media site by a girl in Windsor, N.S.
As a result, Windsor District RCMP arrested the 15-year-old girl on Wednesday. She is facing charges of producing, possessing, and distributing child pornography.
The teen was released and will appear in Windsor provincial court on April 1.
Police want to remind parents about the importance of talking to their children about their online activities, said Cpl. Jennifer Clarke of Nova Scotia RCMP.
“We need to ensure they understand the gravity of their actions and the consequences associated to their online behaviour,” Clarke said in the release.
“Once a digital image is created, it is impossible to know what will happen when it goes out into the world and it may never be deleted.”
