The pit-bull type dog that attacked a young girl in a Brossard park last Sunday has been put down.
Longueuil Police confirm the 100 pound dog was put down with the owner’s permission.
The child was attacked while playing in a park.
She suffered serious injuries to her hand, neck and face and had to undergo 7 hours of surgery.
The dog was seized by police following the incident but some in the neighbourhood say police and the city could have done more to prevent the attack.
Resident Neil Alexander tells CTV Montreal his dog was attacked by the same animal last spring and says he reported the incident.
“I said in one of the communications with the city that something should be done before somebody gets really hurt,” he explains.
Police won’t confirm if the dog that was euthanized was the same dog that attacked Alexander’s dog in May.
Meantime, the grandfather of the girl that was attacked is calling for a province wide ban on pit bulls.

Why would it require the owners consent to put down a killer-dog? The owner should be charged for keeping dangerous dogs on the loose.
ALL Pit bulls should be required to wear a mouth harness or to make it illegal to own in the firs place.
