Calgary police have confirmed the case of a woman being found in a backyard in Whitehorn Thursday is the city’s fifth murder of the year.
They have identified the victim as 31-year-old Dawn Echoes Baptiste of Calgary, but she had no fixed address.

The Homicide Unit is asking for help to determine her movements in the week before she was killed.
Anyone who has information is asked to contact police.
Baptiste is described as Aboriginal, standing 5’5″ tall, weighing 135 pounds, with a medium build, brown hair with blond highlights, and wearing a red winter jacket with a hood, black sweat pants and tan-coloured work boots.
She also wears eye glasses.
