Former Mayor Rob Ford was kicked out of council on Wednesday after he called city staff liars and refused to retract his statement.

The mayor was referring to the fact that city staff never included a $20,000 cost for a trip to send people to Milan for Expo 2015.

“I just find it hard to believe that $20,000 and a free trip wasn’t in this report,” Ford told council Speaker Frances Nunziata.

Coun. Mary Margaret McMahon asked him to apologize for questioning the integrity of city staff.

When Nunziata asked Ford to retract his comments or leave council chambers, he refused. Ford demanded that councillors decide if he should be forced out and called for a recorded vote.

Councillors voted 28-4 to support Nunziata’s ruling.

Coun. Giorgio Mammoliti, a long-time Ford ally, also exited council chambers alongside the former mayor as a show of support.

“We are elected to give our opinions and Coun. Ford got evicted because of an opinion and nothing more than that,” Mammoliti said after leaving the meeting.

“I think the Speaker has shown way too much muscle and I think she needs to get off her high horse and perhaps ride a donkey instead.”

    1. Ford’s still in there wasting council’s time and by extension taxpayer’s money with his nonsense. All grandstanding and lies.
