The man who killed two people and badly injured another person in a wrong-way crash back in 2012 has been sentenced to five years in prison.
Sabastian Prosa was 19 at the time of the 2012 crash and was also banned from driving for eight years.
He was found guilty of 12 charges, including impaired driving causing death, in June.
Prosa was behind the wheel of an SUV that was going the wrong way on the 427 when he struck a van carrying a family. Jayanatha Neil Wijeratne was killed in the crash along with his 16 year old daughter Eleesha. His wife Antonette suffered severe injuries.
The family spoke after the sentencing and weren’t pleased with the lenient sentence. They were hoping for a tougher sentence saying they were given a life sentence. They argued the Canadian justice system is too lenient on Drunk drivers causing death as the average sentence is only 5 years.
