Seven Quebec men from the same family are facing sex charges for alleged offences against four minors between the late 1950s and the mid-’70s, authorities say.
The seven brothers are now between 59 and 71 years old and the alleged crimes took place between 1964 and 1976.
They are facing a variety of sex charges, including sexual assault, molestation, gross indecency and having sex with minors under the age of 14.
The arrests were made after the women, who are now in their sixties, came forward in August.
Longueuil police said in a statement that the female victims were between the ages of nine and 16 when the alleged assaults occurred.
Police said the women have received help from psychologists and support groups.
Charges were laid under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because the alleged crimes took place when the suspects were minors.
However, five of the seven brothers are also accused of continuing the assaults after they turned 18, and have been charged in adult court.
Their next court date is in February.
