Travis Vader not guilty on drug and weapons charges

Travis Vader, the man once accused in the 2010 murders of an elderly Alberta couple, says his last four years in jail have probably ruined his life.

Vader, 42, was released from an Edmonton remand centre Wednesday night, hours after he was acquitted of several theft, drug, and firearm charges.

Travis Vader has been found not guilty of nine drug and weapons charges, not related to the deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann.

Vader did however plead guilty to one charge of not complying with a court order back in 2010, and was sentenced to one day of time already served.

His lawyer says that Vader should be released from police custody later today, he has been serving time since the disappearance of the McCanns.

Vader had faced first-degree murder charges in the deaths of Lyle McCann and his wife, Marie, but the charges were stayed earlier this year.

Lyle and Marie McCann were last seen in St. Albert, four years ago.
