Royal Canadian Mounted Police are investigating an incident at the Pacific Highway Crossing of the U.S.-Canadian border.
Canadian border patrol agents would only confirm that an individual “failed to report at the Pacific Highway port of entry northbound.”
“The suspect in the vehicle had been allegedly in possession of a firearm,” wrote Sgt. Alanna Dunlop in a statement about the incident which began around 2:40 p.m.
RCMP officers then followed the vehicle into South Surrey, where the suspect turned around and headed back toward the same border crossing.
“The vehicle was ultimately stopped just inside the United States and the suspect, a United States citizen, was taken into custody without incident by United States Customs and Border Protection,” the statement read.
Officials reported no injuries. The Surrey RCMP is now heading up the investigation, with support from the CBSA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
