North Okanagan RCMP is concerned about the wellbeing of several people after someone entered a Vernon restaurant and started splattering blood on patrons.
On Saturday at about 1:37 p.m., police officers converged on the Tim Hortons on 58th Avenue after receiving reports of an individual splattering blood on customers.
“He had a cut on his hand and was flicking blood,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.
The 23-year-old suspect left the restaurant and was arrested outside.
It’s not known if the blood has been tested.
“We’re not sure if the suspect has a communicable disease,” said Molendyk, adding that police are concerned about the situation.
Anyone who encountered the suspect and was sprayed with blood or had blood directed at them or their table is asked to call Const. Prommer at 250 545-7171.
The suspect remains in custody and possible mental health issues are being reviewed.
“We hope to get some help for this individual,” said Molendyk.
