A 15-year-old First Nations girl who was severely beaten while under the care of Manitoba Child and Family Services has been taken off life support.
The girl was in government care at downtown hotel.
She was found beaten in a Hargrave Street parkade early on the morning of April 1st.
Derek Nepinak, chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, says the girl’s family gathered at the hospital and made the agonizing decision on Wednesday.
He says the family has asked for privacy.
A 15 year old boy has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was also in Child and Family Services care staying at the same hotel as the girl.
