A young man is dead after falling into the water at Lynn Canyon.
“Around 4:30, North Van RCMP, District of North Vancouver Fire, and BC Ambulance responded to a number of calls about a young man who was clinging to the rocks above a pool within sight of the Lynn Canyon suspension bridge. So people on the bridge could see him on the far side of the pool, hanging off the cliff face.”
RCMP Sergeant Doug Trousdell says by the time crews arrived, it was too late.
“Rescuers responded right away, tried to get into a position to rescue him, but he eventually let go, flipped off the cliff face and into the pool.”
His body had been underwater for an hour when it was determined it was too difficult to access.
The recovery effort has been suspended until first light.
Global News has identifies the victim as Cole Marsh from Coquitlam.
