Michael Lumahang drowns in Ottawa River while child saved

Family members have identified Michael Lumahang of Ottawa as the man who drowned while trying to help rescue a 12-year-old boy from the Ottawa River. The man’s family says he had swimming lessons as a child, but couldn’t battle the rough waters. Police say Lumahang was not wearing a life jacket.

A 24-year-old man is dead and another man was rushed to hospital after a shooting Monday evening in the west end of Toronto. According to police, the victims were in a vehicle travelling southbound on Jane Street when they stopped at a red light in traffic just north of the intersection.
