Battlefords Rural RCMP say a highway crash has claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman from Saskatoon. RCMP say a westbound Dodge Neon left the highway about 15 kilometres west of the community and struck a railroad crossing post head-on.

Three RCMP officers were wounded and a gunman was killed in a confrontation in downtown St. Paul Friday night. RCMP Chief Supt. Randy McInnis told the Canadian Press that two officers were airlifted by STARS air ambulance to an Edmonton hospital while the third remains in St. Paul. The gunman was reportedly killed on scene.

Edmonton police and school resource officers are reporting an increase in the use of marijuana oil through e-cigarettes. Both Edmonton school divisions just this week took notice of the warnings and have banned e-cigarettes on school property. Police report they’ve had five drug arrests in the past two weeks.

The TTC suspended subway service from St. George to Lawrence West during the Friday morning rush. Shuttle buses are running on Line 1, former known as the Yonge-University-Spadina line. The service distuption, which started around 7:30 a.m., was due to a communication failure, the TTC said.
