DUCHESS of Cambridge Kate Middleton has a large scar on her head from a childhood injury, it emerged today.
Palace sources revealed details of the scar in response to claims Kate wears hair extensions.
Pictures of the duchess at her first solo charity engagement showed a large line against her scalp on the left side of her head.
Experts were quick to describe the line as looking like a weft hair extension, which is inserted under layers of real hair to achieve extra body.
But palace sources said the line was a “scar from a childhood injury”. The injury was serious and resulted in an operation, but no further details were given of the injury or when it happened.
The mark just behind her hairline in front of her left ear was spotted as she stepped in to host a private dinner in aid of In Kind Direct after Prince Charles was required to visit Riyadh to present condolences to the Saudi Royal Family following the death of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
She wore an elegant floor-length turquoise dress accessorised with sparkling earrings and a bracelet .
And wearing her hair half-up, in a look which has become so familiar since she officially stepped into the limelight as Prince William’s fiancee a year ago, her childhood scar was revealed.
Her husband has a more obvious scar above his left eye after being hit with a golf club when he was 13.
