Singer Taylor Swift Must Face Alleged Groper In Court Proceeding

Taylor Swift will have to sit down for a deposition with David Mueller, the former radio host who she alleges groped her. A Colorado judge has rejected the pop star’s request to avoid coming face-to-face with Mueller in court.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer will have to appear at a heavily secure Colorado federal court. As a high-profile celebrity, Taylor’s team motioned to not have her deposition videotaped, but the judge denied this request. THR also reports that the judge will not deny Mueller’s ability to attend the deposition. So not only will Taylor be recorded, but she may have to come face-to-face with the former DJ.

There are strict guidelines for how the taping will be handled. The judge has ruled that the only original of the videotape will “remain in the custody of Mr. Jesse Schaudies, Ms. Swift’s business manager. Plaintiff’s counsel must be provided reasonable access to the videotape.” That means the tape will only be made public if the a trial is held; attorneys are also under a strict code on what they can discuss about the case. Most of the case’s filings are under seal, so a court date is not known at this time.
