French bank to launch in-Tweet money transfers, Report

French bank to launch in-Tweet money transfers, Report

Groupe BPCE, is using Twitter to enable person-to-person payments through the social media platform.

Developed by Groupe BPCE’s S-Money with Twitter’s API, the service will allow anyone in France with a linked bank account to send and receive money with a tweet at no cost.

S-Money CEO Nicolas Chatillon said in a statement: “(S-Money) offers Twitter users in France a new way to send each other money, irrespective of their bank and without having to enter the beneficiary’s bank details, with a simple tweet.”

The money transfer service comes as part of the social network giant’s efforts to venture into online payments business.

Groupe BPCE commercial banking and insurance CEO Jean-Yves Forel had previously said: “This initiative is a good example of our innovation strategy regarding payments.

“Groupe BPCE is the first banking group to offer individuals a payment solution where they can transfer money with a simple Tweet. This S-Money initiative opens up a whole new range of payment possibilities on the social networks.”
