Springfield drivers might be a little happier the next time they fill up their gas tanks. Gas prices in Springfield are well below $3.00 per gallon, and have dropped to recent lows.
Although the average price of regular unleaded gas Wednesday was $3.10 a gallon, many gas stations were selling it at 10 to 15 cents less. According to the Winston-Salem Journal, AAA Carolinas attributed the drop to a switchover to the less expensive winter gas blend. They also noted that more gasoline was being produced in the U.S. than last year.
An analyst from GasBuddy.com added we are less reliant on Middle Eastern oil and that the lower price was due to recent crude oil cuts by some members of OPEC.
Experts say that gas prices will keep dropping for two more weeks.
