The Pete Holmes Show has been axed by TBS after two seasons, EW confirms. The half hour late night series followed Conan at midnight, but it failed to gain an audience large enough to convince TBS to renew it.
TBS launched the series back in 2013 with an initial contract for seven weeks of episodes that aired four night a week after Conan. The show’s contract was renewed for a 13-week run in its second season.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter TBS cited low rankings as the reason for cancellation. “”We recognize Pete as one of the most relevant comedians working today,” TBS said. “We loved the show and gave it two chances. We just couldn’t draw the audience needed to justify a third round. We hope we’ll get to work with him again.”
The show will end its run on June 19 after airing more than 70 episodes.
