“X-Men: Days of Future Past” has earned $91 million on its first weekend of release claiming the top spot at the Memorial Day box office, pushing “Godzilla” to second place with a $31.4 million debut, Forbes reported.
The all-star X-Men Days of Future Past dominated at cinemas across the U.S. and is now on track to make at least $110 million (£69 million) over the four-day weekend – making it the second-largest holiday opening for the franchise.
Meanwhile, Godzilla continues to roar at the U.S. box office, taking in a second -weekend $31.43 million (£20 million) over the weekend.
The film has now made over $148 million (£92.5 million).
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler’s latest comedy Blended comes in third with an opening weekend haul of $14.25 million (£;9 million).
Neighbors and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 round out the new top five, according to studio estimates.
