Alberta researchers track invasive earthworms

It’s no joke. Scientists at the University of Alberta have issued a worm invasion alert and are calling on all citizens to track the creepy crawlies from gardens into the forests.

They say earth worms are NOT native to Alberta and the northern migration is largely the result of human interference and activities such as fishing, boating and camping.

The University of Alberta researchers have launched an App to track the creepy crawlies from gardens into forests.

The Scientists says worms might help gardens grow, but they damage forests by eating leaf litter.

The Scientists want Albertans to download the app, and help them in collecting data on earthworms which will be used by researchers to study the earthworm invasion.
