Vancouver Aquarium officials say an adult male California sea lion is being treated at their Marine Mammal Rescue Centre after being rescued from Salt Spring Island.
Veterinarians with the Vancouver Aquarium were alerted about a sea lion in rough shape and headed out for the rescue.
However the aquarium says it is a tricky situation as the animal’s condition is so severe that they can’t even do the diagnosis to determine what is wrong.
The focus is on stabilizing the sea lion and if they can do that then diagnose and treat it.
The animal is thought to be between three and seven years old.
