An early Thursday morning eruption of the Turrialba volcano may mean a repeat of Monday and Tuesday, as ash and gas reaching a height of 2,000 metres (2 kilometres) spreads north and west through the Central Valley.
According to media reports, the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose was forced to temporarily shut down Monday due to the volcanic eruption.
Over 3,000 passengers were impacted by the delays and cancellations associated with the volcanic eruption.
Reports show that operations are beginning to return to normal as eruption slows.
