A total of 43 dinosaur egg fossils were found at a construction site in south China’s Guangdong province on Sunday afternoon.
After two hours of effort, archaeologists from the city of Heyuan unearthed a nest of 43 dinosaur egg fossils at the site, 19 of which are intact.
Speaking to Chinese media, local archaeologist Du Yanli explained that 19 of the eggs were found intact, and the largest had an impressive diameter of 13cm.
He added that the city is rife for dinosaur discoveries, and more than 13,000 fossilised eggs have been discovered there in the last two decades – landing the city a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest collection of dinosaur eggs.
The city’s impressive secret was first unearthed in 1995, when four boys were playing on a construction site near their school, and discovered a dinosaur egg fossil.
Since then, officials have spent millions on construction a dinosaur theme park and museum, but it’s failed to draw in tourists.
The only review on Trip Advisor reads: ‘It is a small museum. It took us not more than 30 minutes to finish viewing’.
