Frog Species Looks Like Kermit : New Glass Frog Species Discovered in Costa Rica (Video)

Photos of a “newly discovered and described” translucent species of frog are going viral because media outlets say the creature looks like Kermit the Frog.

According to the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Center, this new species is a glassfrog, or Hyalinobatrachium dianae, and found in the Caribbean slopes of Costa Rica. This specific glassfrog is called Diane’s Bare-hearted Glassfrong, as it was named after the senior author’s mother.

There are 14 other glassfrogs living in Costa Rica. This one is extra special because its organs are visible through the skin covering its abdomen.

This frog is also getting a lot of attention via social media because the strong resemblance to another famous frog, Kermit from “The Muppet’s.” With the same eyes and green skin, this frog can relate that “it’s not easy being green.”
