Almost 24-hours after scores of Nova Scotians and New Brunswickers reported see a fireball in the sky on a trajectory headed north, a second fireall is being reported this mroning in Nova Scotia.
Jen Greene of Halifax said she driving to Stanfield International Airport with her boyfriend when she saw orange ball of fire at 5:15 a.m. while passing Miller Lake on Highway 102.
“It looked liked like a really large Roman candle going across the sky,” she said.
She said it lasted four or five seconds after she noticed it, long enough for her to bring it her boyfriend’s attention.
“The it fizzled out, just a like a Roman candle does with little bits of flame coming out of it.”
The fireball was orange, while the flames were red, Greene said. The trail of flames was about twice the size of the ball.
“It was just enough to tell that there were different pieces of flame coming off it.”
Other people on social media, in various parts of the province, also reported seeing a bright streak in the sky at about the same time.
Greene said she wasn’t worried about flying with fireballs being spotted two days in a row.
“I’m sure it’s fine, and if it’s not, be that as it may,” she said.
The bright light some Nova Scotians witnessed before dawn Tuesday was likely a type of meteoroid, a veteran skywatcher says.
Dave Lane was tucked safe in his bed when a few early risers spotted something streaking across Nova Scotia’s sky toward the north.
The object appeared to burn up as it approached the horizon.
