Shark Feeding Frenzy in North Carolina (Video)

A shark feeding frenzy was captured on video right at the beach at Cape Lookout National Seashore.

The video was posted on Facebook and YouTube by Brian Recker, who wrote that his friend Donnie Griggs shot it.

The dramatic footage showed some of the sharks nearly beaching themselves as they thrashed about in the water in search of a meal.

Beachgoers observed the unknown species of shark swimming in an out of the surf for roughly five minutes, according to the description.

Recker stressed that despite the presence of the shark, Cape Lookout and the surrounding beaches of eastern North Carolina were “extremely safe for swimming.”

“The presence of these sharks and large schools of fish is actually a sign of a very healthy ecosystem,” Recker wrote.

On his Facebook page, Recker described the incident as a “sharknado,” a reference to the 2013 made-for-television movie about a freak storm that lifts sharks out of water and deposits them onto land.
