T-Mobile CEO John Legere has come up with a creative way to celebrate Twitter hitting the 3-million threshold by setting up a huge contest promising to give away a trip to the red planet if Legere’s own tweet promoting the cause scores a million retweets.
To enter, all you need to do is retweet the post between 10:00 on October 5, 2016, and 23:59 on October 11, 2016. You’ll need to be the authorised account holder, and you’ll need to keep your retweet free of “lewd or profane” material. You can only enter once, and you’re not allowed to use automated devices to game the system – obviously.
A potential winner will be chosen on October 12 at around noon (Pacific Time), and will be contacted via direct message. If the winner doesn’t respond to the message within three hours – or is ineligible – then a new entrant will be chosen.
Getting to a million tweets is no mean feat, which is why there are runner-up prizes. If Legere manages 100,000 retweets, you could win a zero gravity experience, while 50,000 retweets will net one user a zero gravity chair. And for 10,000 retweets, you could bag a flight to anywhere in the US – not quite Mars, eh?
When I joined @TMobile, people thought I was from Mars. I want say thx in an out-of-this-🌏-way for believing in me! https://t.co/W4X2ofKoBW pic.twitter.com/OWFwcOXRSv
