Anderson has seven children from five different women. Tami Roman, Anderson’s first ex-wife, was one of three of his children’s mothers who led the charge in accusing him of failing to pay child support in a report three years ago. Roman had been a public figure herself after starring in Season 2 of MTV’s “Real World.”
Said Anderson: “I take care of my kids.”
In 2003, Jeanette DiLone, Anderson’s ex-girlfriend, slapped the former Nets star with a $2 million palimony suit, alleging physical abuse and that he promised to support her, all of which Anderson denied. Between allegations, Anderson filed for bankruptcy in 2005, but now he says he’s financially stable.
Today, Anderson conducts personal workouts with high school players in the South Florida area, and gives motivational speeches to kids all over the country. He makes paid appearances at events, as well.
He feels he’s turned his life around and should be judged on the present, not past.
“I might have had things in my personal life, but who hasn’t? Who hasn’t?” Anderson says. “My first marriage, I was 23 years old … that’s 16 years ago. I’m not ashamed to talk about that. I’m in my third marriage now. I’m married, I’m stable. I’m a whole different man. I don’t do those things. But that’s the perception.
