Tim Tebow recently purchased a home in Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club in Southside, according to a deed filed Monday.
Tebow paid $1.4 million to buy the estate from David and Virginia Bailey of Vero Beach.
Built in 2000 by Southern Living Magazine custom builder, Collier Homes, the 6,525-square-foot home last sold in 2009 for $1,375,000.
A former NFL quarterback, Tebow played two seasons for the Denver Broncos and one season for the New York Jets.
After his release in April 2013, Jaguars fans lobbied to get the local hero hired in Jacksonville, buying billboards and newspaper ads and holding rallies at EverBank Field. He was signed by the New England Patriots, but cut after preseason training.
Tebow became a starting quarterback for the University of Florida Gators during its 2007 season and was the first college sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy. He became widely known for kneeling in prayer at games, a practice fans later dubbed “Tebowing.”
In December, ESPN announced it had hired Tebow to work as a college football analyst on the SEC Network it would launch in August.
