Three more people are charged in connection with the taking of an unauthorized photo of Senator Thad Cochran’s wife in an assisted living facility.
Police in Madison identify the three as Mark Mayfield, Richard Sager and John Mary.
Mayfield is an attorney on the board of the Central Mississippi Tea Party. He’s charged with conspiracy.
Sager is from Laurel and is charged with tampering of evidence and conspiracy.
Mary is from Hattiesburg and is charged with two counts of conspiracy.
Conservative blogger Clayton Thomas Kelly, 28, of Pearl, was arrested last week on allegations that he took the photos of Rose Cochran without her permission at the nursing home where she has lived for 13 years.
Kelly is charged with exploitation, filming without permission and conspiracy.
All appeared in Madison City Court Thursday.
Cochran spokesman Jordan Russell says the campaign had no immediate comment about the new arrests.
However, Cochran’s primary opponent, state Rep. Chris McDaniel called on Cochran to stop running what his campaign called a ‘slanderous’ ad claiming McDaniel was involved in illegal activity.
The Madison County District Attorney has said no one with the McDaniel campaign is involved.
