A company called StoreDot has released this YouTube video showing how their battery can be recharged in just 30 seconds. It was developed out of Alzheimer’s research at Tel Aviv University.
The battery is quite special and it is made from biological structures. According to the Wall Street Journal, the company’s technology is different from the lithium-ion batteries that power most electronics.
It is based on biological semiconductors, according to Time magazine, which are made from naturally organic compounds called peptides. These have been dubbed “nanodots.” The nanodots are described by StoreDot as “stable, robust spheres” that are 2.1 nanometers in diameter and made up of peptide molecules.
