A 28-year-old man was reunited with his father an incredible 24 years after he was kidnapped at a market in China and sold to a couple who wanted to raise a child.

Sun Bin, now aged 28, was snatched off the streets at a food market in the city of Chengdu in 1991. He was sold to a childless couple almost 1000 miles away. Sun Bin admitted he always knew he had been kidnapped, but had grown to love his adoptive parents.

“Dad I am back,” he cried as he was led into a police station on Tuesday. His real father, Sun Youhong, kneeling on the ground to apologise to him, gripped his son’s arms tightly, The Telegraph reported. “Do not cry,” he said.

Child trafficking is a huge business in China, where some couples will go to any lengths to obtain a male heir, the report said. Sun Youhong and his wife gave up looking for their son after four years. “I still have this photo that was taken of him four days before he vanished,” the father said.

Sun Bin began search for his real parents when he grew up. A sample of his DNA given to a government database revealed his parents were alive. “I will look after and care for both my families,” he said.
