Matt Damon’s wife, Luciana Bozán Barroso, is from Argentina, so Christmas with their four daughters combines two sets of traditions.
“The big difference is that they celebrate Christmas Eve and we celebrate Christmas Day,” says the actor. “So now we have this bizarre fusion Christmas where they open a bunch of gifts after dinner on Christmas Eve, and then again on Christmas morning. We’re basically just working it out, but it’s a win/win for the kids.”
He continues, “When I met my wife, she was like, ‘No, no! Christmas Eve! Who wants to get up Christmas morning?’ And I was like, ‘Are you crazy? So what do we tell the kids – that Santa Claus came while we were having dinner? And what does that teach them? This guy’s working his ass off flying around the world and we don’t even invite him to sit down and eat with us?’
“That’s not a good lesson!”
