Actress Selma Blair ‘very sorry’ about plane meltdown

Selma Blair issued a statement Tuesday explaining what led up to a bizarre incident that ended with her strapped to a stretcher being taken off her flight home from Cancun to Los Angeles.

“I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret. My son was with his Dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace. I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”

Flying with her family, Selma had been traveling from Cancun, Mexico to Los Angeles, California when the outburst took place. Witness who were sitting in first-class with the actress reported they saw Selma drinking wine during the flight and that she allegedly had mixed something into her drink.

During the outburst, the actress was seen crying while saying, “He burns my private parts. He won’t let me eat or drink.” Witnesses said she also continued, “He beats me. He’s going to kill me.”

The flight crew checked to see if the actress had any medications in her luggage, and the plane’s pilot radioed ahead to have emergency medical personnel waiting to ferry Selma to an ER to be checked on.

Selma, who’s known for her role in Hellboy as Liz Sherman, found great success portraying the moody pyrotechnic superhero in the film. The actress is also known for her previous work in films like Legally Blonde with Reese Witherspoon and Cruel Intentions with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
