In the latest marketing stunt aimed at pulling on people’s heartstrings in advance of the holiday season, Dutch airline KLM brought some flyers to tears recently by enlisting their loved ones to write personal messages that were then left on the headrests.
After bidding your loved one goodbye at the security line, unbeknownst to you, a KLM employee whisks him or her off to write a message to you. Once that heartfelt message, maybe even accompanied by a colorful little drawing, is complete, another KLM employee rushes that message onto your plane, finds your seat number, and sticks it to your headrest cover. When you board your flight and find your seat, voila!
How would you react if this happened to you? A woman who found herself part of the campaign was moved to tears.
“Oh. God. Okay. I promised myself not to cry anymore,” she said.
Judging by all the positive comments toward KLM on the YouTube video, which has already been viewed more than 200,000 times, we’d venture to say the campaign was a success.
