People who visited certain locations in Calgary mid-January, including the city’s airport, may have been exposed to measles, Alberta Health Services (AHS) warned Thursday.
In the middle of January, a person with the illness made several stops in the city, prompting AHS to put out the warning.
The person was in Calgary from January 15th-18th, and anyone who was at one of the following locations during the times specified could have been exposed to the disease.
January 15th – January 18th:
Waterfront Condos
222 Riverfront Avenue S.W., Calgary
12 a.m., January 15th – 10 a.m., January 18th
January 15th:
Forbidden City Dim Sum & Seafood
999 36 St N.E., Calgary
6 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
January 18th:
Calgary International Airport
10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
WestJet Flight WS287
Calgary to Vancouver
Flight duration (departed Calgary at 11:35 a.m.)
AHS is asking those people to monitor their symptoms, which include a fever, cough, runny noise, red eyes, and a red blotchy rash that appears three to seven days after the fever starts.
Measles is extremely contagious and spreads through the air. There’s no treatment, but can be prevented through immunization.
If you’re unsure as to whether you or your child have had the measles immunization, you can call your local public health office or Health Link at 811.
