Alexander John Ernst charged with internet luring in case involving young girls

A man from Maitland in Lunenburg County has been arrested and charged with trying to lure several girls over the internet — one as young as 10 years old.

Alexander John Ernst was arrested Friday at his Maitland home after parents complained to RCMP that the 29-year-old had been chatting with their daughters, aged 10 and 12, over social media.

Investigators say they have identified two other girls they allege Ernst had been chatting with and arranged to meet. So far, they claim to have identified six girls, all under 16, from the Bridgewater area that Ernst had contacted.

Bridgewater RCMP are asking anyone with information to call them at 902-527-5555.

Ernst, who was arrested and remanded into custody, is expected to appear in Bridgewater provincial court Wednesday.

    1. A quick internet search shows this is at least his third arrest dating back at least 10 years.
