Alsu Ivanchenko : NYC Woman Accused Of Abusing Puppy (Update)

Alsu Ivanchenko, the Bay Terrace woman accused of abusing and abandoning her 3-month-old puppy, pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Thursday to animal-cruelty charges.

The Advance says Alsu Ivanchenko, who remains free on $3,500 bail, has agreed to a ban on possessing a companion animal.

Authorities say the puppy, now named Charlotte, was placed in a shopping bag and thrown out of a car on Sept. 12.

The ASPCA says the Maltese-Shih Tzu mix is now eating on her own and has regained limited mobility.

The office of District Attorney Daniel Donovan says Ivanchenko could face up to two years behind bars if convicted of a felony.

Her attorney did not immediately respond to a message requesting comment.

Ivanchenko’s next court appearance is Jan. 13.
