Amanda Peterson’s death was caused by an overdose of morphine, according to a toxicology report released this week.
The actress, who starred with Patrick Dempsey in the 1980s high school film, was found dead July 5 in her Colorado home.
The Weld County coroner has ruled the 43-year-old died from an accidental overdose of a variety of drugs, including opiates, marijuana, tranquilizers, an anti-psychotic drug called phenothiazine, and six times the recommended dosage of the painkiller Gabapentin, according to TMZ.
The report said Peterson was self-medicating to control pain from a recent hysterectomy and was “naive to opiates.”

Peterson, who had two children and was married twice, had been arrested several times in the past couple decades, including for DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia, said TMZ, citing the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.
