‘American Pie’ singer Don McLean finalises divorce with wife

Don McLean and wife Patrisha McLean finalized their divorce on Monday — six months after the folk icon was arrested for domestic violence in their Maine home.

Following his initial arrest in January, Don took to Twitter in an attempt to set the record straight with fans. He has always protested his innocence, and wrote: “This last year and especially now have been hard emotional times for my wife my children and me (sic)… What is occurring is the very painful breakdown of an almost 30 year relationship. Our hearts are broken and we must carry on. There are no winners or losers but I am not a villain…”

The couple had been married for about 30 years and have two adult children.
