Andre Salaman Bautista has been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Andre Salaman Bautista, 36, surrendered to authorities at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City last Thursday, according to the District Attorney’s Office. He pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday, and his bail was set at $550,000, with a bail-review hearing set for later this week, prosecutors said.
Bautista, who won his Daytime Emmy under the name Andre Bauth, is accused of stabbing 23-year-old Clayton Haymes with a kitchen knife at their home on Sept. 8.
Haymes told CBS2 that Bautista was bragging that he would win five Oscars someday.
“When he said ‘five Oscars,’ we all kind of laughed a little bit, and he got really upset,” Haymes said. “I was terrified for my life. I’m just happy to be alive.”
Andre Salaman Bautista faces up to 13 years in prison if convicted.
