ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Crews found the bodies of two individuals from the Annapolis House fire, Anne Arundel County Fire Capt. Russ Davies said.
Davies briefly addressed the media on Wednesday afternoon, confirming that the search of the house had recovered two bodies, and stating that four people were still unaccounted for.
The homeowners, Don and Sandy Pyle, and their four grandchildren, have been missing since the fire.
Crews began the excavation process at the site of the massive fire on Childs Point Road on Wednesday. “As we started to process the scene we found the bodies of two individuals,” Davies said.
Davies could not comment on whether the bodies recovered were children or adults. The bodies have been taken to the medical examiner for autopsy and identification, Davies said.
The excavation process is ongoing, calling the process a “massive” effort, Davies estimated it would take several days. “They’re going through a meticulous process. There’s a lot of heavy materials from the house, as been described previously this isn’t built like a typical residential house,” Davies said.
“As is a standard practice with all fire investigations we handle it as a criminal investigation,” Davies explained.
