A man walked into an Apple store and began swinging a Samurai sword.
The man brandished the weapon on a staircase after entering the shop in Manhattan, New York, on Friday at about 4pm local time.
He was reportedly shouting and waving the sword above his head as he descended a spiral-staircase into the store, before being tackled by two off-duty police officers.
Shopper Nancy Birnbaum told NBC: “I have never in my life felt so terrified.
“He pulled his sword out and everybody got back. I honestly thought that was it.”
There were no injuries and police said the incident was not terror-related.
Another shopper, Giovanni Gabbani, attempted to speak to the man before he was tackled.
He told NBC: “We’re all human beings, people have issues, I feel maybe he had some trouble and if I can talk to him and show him that people care, maybe that will diffuse and stop the situation.”
The man was eventually arrested.
An Apple spokesman confirmed the incident, but declined to comment further.
