Billionaire Jack Dorsey marches in Ferguson protests

Twitter co-founder and St. Louis native Jack Dorsey was in Ferguson Saturday sending tweets about the protests stemming from the police killing of an unarmed black teenager.

Dorsey, who grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, tweeted on Friday (15 August) that he would be heading home to St Louis, and later joined the marches, posting first-hand accounts of the protests along with updates on Twitter.

Many of this tweets have been retweeted hundreds of times, and he tweeted several during the daytime of peaceful marching, continuing through the night with ongoing updates.

On Saturday (16 August) Missouri Governor Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency and curfew that would last from midnight until 5:00 am for the St. Louis suburb after riots began, triggered by the death of teenager Michael Brown who was shot dead on a street in Ferguson a week ago.

Dorsey, who has 2.61 million followers on Twitter, signed off at 8.02 this morning with the tweet: “Finally home. See you tomorrow. #Ferguson”.

The Ferguson hashtag is currently trending on Twitter.
