A pastor reportedly died after confessing to an affair in front of his congregation.
According to the Connecticut Post, the family of Bishop Bobby Davis, the pastor and founder of the Miracle Faith World Outreach Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut, asked members of the church to stay after service on Sunday and then he confessed to the affair that happened a long time ago.
Police spokesman William Kaempffer said Thursday afternoon that detectives have closed their investigation into Davis’ death, the Post reported.
“Detectives interviewed people who were in the church and viewed a video taken by someone who was in the church,” Kaempffer was quoted as saying. “There was no indication of foul play.”
Members of the church were very vocal following Davis’ confession, but their response was supportive, Stovall said.
“We were shouting, ‘We forgive you, we love you,’” she said. “But the stress of all of it — he had a heart attack. I held his head as he lay on the floor. Our congregation is hurting now.”
According to the church website, Davis’ wife Christine “has worked alongside her husband for over forty-five years, teaching the Word of God … She is a dynamic teacher whose style and wisdom compliments that of her husband to the extent that they almost always minister together in some capacity.”
