According to research conducted by Spotify using over 600 000 Halloween playlists, the Michael Jackson classic is the most featured song closely followed by Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett’s Monster Mash.
Halloween continues to grow in popularity, with themed playlists growing by 117% year on year. Spotify predicts that this Halloween is set to be one of the biggest ever in the UK with Brits getting into the spirit of it and rivalling the States with Halloween themed parties.
Spotify has identified which cities have been creating the most playlists for Halloween. Brighton is leading the way when it comes to the most frightening streamers in the UK, closely followed by Bristol and Liverpool. In addition Edinburgh, Sheffield, Leeds and London also make the top ten, confirming Halloween as one of the key times of year when music plays a pivotal role to festivities.
