Five kinds of Bothwell shredded cheese are being pulled amid fears of possible Listeria contamination.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says there have been no reported illnesses.
The CFIA warns consumers not to eat the affected products and warns hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals and nursing homes not to sell or use them. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased, the CFIA says.
The list includes 340-gram mozzarella blend shredded cheese (the most likely type individuals may have bought) and 10-kilogram bags of shredded mild, white, old, and old cheddar typically used in commercial kitchens.
Listeria contamination can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness, and, in severe cases, death. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are most at risk.
