Former Los Angeles news anchor Bree Walker was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Anaheim, police said Wednesday night.
Walker, 61, was stopped at 12:35 a.m. near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Ball Road and was arrested at 1:47 a.m., said Anaheim Lt. Tim Schmidt.
Walker worked as a reporter and anchor in three major U.S markets — San Diego, L.A. and New York City. She also became a disability activist, having been born with ectrodactyly, a rare genetic condition that caused her fingers and toes to be fused together.
Walker kept the condition hidden with a pair of glove-like prosthetic hands until she revealed it while at KGTV 10News in San Diego. She joined the station in 1980 as a consumer advocacy reporter and eventually became one half of San Diego first female anchor team on the 11 p.m. newscast, alongside Carol LeBeau.
Walker left San Diego for New York in 1987 and went to Los Angeles in 1988.
