The man can forward after he saw himself purchasing the ticket on the news, KABC-TV reported. He bought the ticket Sept. 13 at Rosemead Supermarket on East Valley Boulevard. His ticket had all the numbers except for the Powerball number.

Powerball rules require a winner to have the physical ticket to be eligible to claim any prize winnings.

Since the man lost his ticket he is no longer entitled to the prize.

The LA Times reported that lottery officials had tried to identify the man and distributed surveillance images in the hopes of finding the winner, who only had 180 days to claim his prize.

All unclaimed lotto money is given to California public schools.
